‘’Jenny put the Kettle on’’

A wonderful evening of Song music and chat took place in St. Ann’s Church of Ireland Annaduff on Sunday evening last. Well known personality Vincent woods interviewed/recorded Singer Songwriter Musician Fionnuala Maxwell, Derrywillow, who enchanted and amused us with song and stories of her journey through her musical life from childhood up until the present day.

Vincent then interviewed Piper John Touhy, Backwood on his journey through his love of  pipes and music from age three up until now , his history of recorded pipe music enthralled the large audience. John dedicated one of his tunes of the night to the late Mary Mostyn  whose husband Bryan joined us for the night.

All in all it was a lovely gathering followed by tea and chat and as it was also International Women’s day , the Ladies gathered for a pictorial record of the evening, while the men drank their tea! The event was organised by Edwina Guckian Sean Nos Dancer supreme who tells us the next ‘’Jenny put the Kettle on’’ will be in Dromahair.  We are very lucky in this area to have all of these talented people in our Comhalthas group in Drumsna and so are the children who are learning so much about traditional music , song and dance from them. Thanks to all involved.

Eco Living Programme.

An Eco living school is being organised near Drumsna  by Alanna Moore, an Australian permaculture pioneer living in Leitrim and Irish Eco Architect ,Peter Cowman ,commencing on March 28th. 2020.                                                              Eco Living courses and workshops will take place on a small holding ,where established edible gardens and a natural building project will be provided. A unique hands on opportunity for people to experience Eco living through the growing of healthy and nutritious food and the creation of a healthy and nutritious shelter.

Alanna , an expert on growing unusual fruit and vegetables in the rich Leitrim soil promises that  participants can learn ,not only to grow their own vegetables but can also enjoy some plant based home grown meals into the bargain!

Peter ,who believes that because Eco living is a new way of life that it requires an Eco Architecture within which it can be properly experienced, his approach to building design and construction which he calls ‘’Living Architecture’’ seeks to create buildings which provide a healthy environment and nourishment for personal development and the stimulation of a person’s inner life.

The planned building project will be based on the type of small building which can be constructed near to an established dwelling without need to obtain planning permission.See the programme at wwwgeomantica.com
