DioceseAssembly.

The Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise are holding an assembly of the 41 Parishes in May of 2020 to consider how best the Parishes can move forward. Next meeting for those involved is in St. Mel’s Longford on Saturday November 23rdat 9am.

Loving memory candles and Envelopes lists of memory for the faithful departed are in both Churches.

Thanks is extended to all those who contributed to the Collection at the recent Cemetery Sunday Collection, to all those who look after the graveyard, Leitrim Development and all involved in the scheme.

Church Gate collections for Cancer Care West takes place on Saturday/Sunday next November 16/17 . Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Bingo

Bingo continues in the Centre Drumsna on Thursday night November 14th  at 8.30pm. Last weeks winners include Ann Beirne, Mary Mc Tiernan, Coloured sheet Maria Guihan, Raffle  Mary Mc Tiernan, Mary Moran, Gerry Rynn. Social dancing in Fitzpatrick’s Lounge Mohill, on Sunday night November 17th  with music by Kay and Michael Sound.

 

Golden Age Meeting.

Golden Age group  meeting on next Wednesday, November 20th . We  continue our gentle exercises with Dillon Keane. We will also have Kate Sheridan- Murtagh to talk and encourage us with our project .The Annual Summer Holiday is booked from Sunday June 7thto Friday June 12th 2020, It seems like a long way away but most hotels are already booked out for large groups at this time, If you feel like joining us  at  The Bridge House Hotel , Tullamore, with selected tours and music each night, non members are very welcome and we are travelling by coach, but we need a 50 Euro deposit p.p.by the end of November. Seniors Christmas Party.

The Senior citizens Parish Christmas party takes place in the Bush Hotel on Sunday  December 1stat 2.30pm.  There will be a four course festive meal and dancing afterwards to the one and only Jimmy Lennon.  If you are attending  (and we hope you will) please give your name to any Golden age member as soon as you can so that we can inform the Hotel of numbers attending.

Adult set dancing classes in St. Joseph’s Hall Leitrim village on Wednesday September 18thfrom 8.30 to 9.45pm. Adult and teenagers, beginners and advanced.

Sean Nos Dance classes in St. Mary’s Hall, Carrick-on-Shannon , Thursday September 19th6.-6.30. Beginner children 6.30 -7.30. Intermediate children. 7.30- 8.30pm Adults.

Annaduff I.C.A.

Annaduff I.C.A. celebrated the 50thAnniversary  of the very first meeting held in Annaduff old School in 1969 on Saturday night last. Five of the founder members were happily able to attend namely  Jean O’ Brien, Drumsna first President, Colleen Guckian, Drumsna First Secretary, Also founder members Marie Duignan, Carrick, Ena Fox Corrick, and Elsie Taylor Drumsna. The five were presented with a beautiful ceramic boxty scoop specially designed by Bairbre Kennedy of Lichen Ceramics of the Leitrim Sculpture Centre , Manorhamilton.The event commenced with Mass for deceased members and their families in St. Mary’s Church Annaduff at 7pm celebrated by Parish Priest Fr. John Wall in which past and present members were remembered.The prayers of the faithful, the readings, Ministers of the Eucharist duties were all performed by the members, gifts brought to the Altar included the minutes of the first meeting in 1969, The history of the guild 40thanniversary booklet, Boxty, soda bread, Crafts and the I.C.A. badge. A Chart depicting photos and memorabilia  was on display during the Mass. The Annaduff choir excelled themselves and the church was packed to capacity. It was then on to Cox’s Steak House ,Dromod for a lovely meal with up to a hundred ladies attending including the Leitrim Federation President Michelle Early and Father John Wall P.P. who bravely joined the Group and many members from other guilds who joined up for the celebrations.  Annaduff I.C.A. Chairperson Breege Bohan welcomed and thanked everyone for coming and long time member Maura Faughnan entertained us with a speech about the guild down through the years. The Leitrim Federation Chairperson Michelle also congratulated the guild on its achievement and mentioned the fact that she had never heard the ‘’My Land’’ the I.C.A. sang in its entirety before. Willie Donnellan Photographer supreme, also bravely battled his way through the throng to take a pictorial record of a wonderful night. A beautiful cake made by a member was also cut and distributed, much credit is due to the staff at Cox’s for the way in which they manage to serve such a large crowd.  The music was supplied by We 3, and a great night celebration was had by all. Congratulations to Annaduff I.C.A. guild and its hard working members for a wonderful accievment.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the extended Gilhooly/Donaldson family of Dristernan/ Headford/Dublin on the death of Tommy Gilhooly Glasnevin, The late Tommy is survived by his wife Maura, sons daughter , son-in-law, daughter -in-law, Grandchildren, Great grand child, Brothers ,sister, sisters-in-law relatives and friends and while he lived for most of his life in Dublin Tommy never lost the love of his native Leitrim, his coffin was draped with a half Leitrim and half Dublin Football jersey and He departed Drumsna Church to the strains of Fionnuala Maxwell’s haunting rendition of ‘’Lovely Leitrim’’. Tommy Gilhooly was interred in Annaduff after his funeral Mass in Drumsna on Thursday last.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen

The A.G. M. of the above took place on Wednesday night last in  attendance were Fionnuala Taylor, Geraldine Duignan, Sian Dole, Noel Duignan, Ursula Gaffney, Micheal O ‘ Dowd, Patricia O’ Reilly, Sinead Guckian, Ella Gannon, Gerry Butler, Tommy Mc Loughlin, Carmel O’ Dowd, Colleen Guckian. Church Gate Collection.

Thanks is extended to all those who contributed to the recent Church Gate collection for Epilepsy at Drumsna Church. The amount collected was 135 Euro.

Santa Dash Leitrim 2019.

A mad Santa Dash hosted by Annaduff Health and wellbeing/ North West STOP suicide prevention / Feileacain is taking place At Annaduff Club house on Sunday December 1stat 12noon. You can Prance, dance, or wheel your way around the 5k or 10 k route. Registration for this event was on Saturday November 9th10th.
