Diocese Assembly.

The Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise are holding an assembly of the 41 Parishes in May of 2020 to consider how best the Parishes can move forward. We want to hear the experience and views of the people on the ground, whether you attend Church or not. We would like to hear what life is like for you and whether there is anything that you would change, hope for or expect from the Church. The first meeting of representatives from the 41 Parishes took place in St. Mel’s College Longford on Saturday last . “ members from each end of the Parish of Annaduff together with Father John Wall attended in conjunction with Fr. Gerry O’ Brien and the Bornacoola representatives.  This Assembly is taking place at the instigation of Bishop Francis Duffy. You as a Parishioner are asked to give your view on what you think should or should not be done. Young and old are invited to write down their thoughts and hand them in to Father Wall or any Assembly/ Parish Council member. Questionaire at the Church door.

Chair Yoga Dancing.

Chair Yoga Dancing starting in Annaduff Community Centre on Wednesday September 11th from 8.30 to 9.30pm.

Bingo

Bingo continues in the Centre Drumsna on Thursday night September 26th at 8.30pm. Last weeks winners include Roseleen Newell, Brendan Gilooly,  Coloured sheet, Brendan Gilooly.  Raffle Maria Guihan, Bridie Moran, Gerry Rynn. Free books for Thursday September 26th  Joseph Tighe, Marjorie Wilcox.

Clothes Collection

Annaduff G.A.A. are looking for unwanted clothes, all types of shoes bags, belts, curtains, bed linen, NO duvets or pillows please. clothes can be dropped off at the G.A.A pitch or can be collected , Call Niall at A087 9852113 or Denny at 0879007217,all monies collected go towards equipment for the younger  people of the Parish. This is the last call for clothes for the present.

Leitrim Handball Open Day.

The newly formed Annaduff Handball Club in conjunction with Leitrim Handball is holding it’s first open day and coaching workshop in the Mc Govern/Aughavas Leitrim Centre of Excellence on Saturday 5th of October. This is an open day for anyone interested in handball in the centre of excellence catchment area. Our clubs will going forward utilise the fantastic handball facilities in the centre and offer handball coaching and competitions for all in the local areas. On this first open day we are inviting juvenile members aged 10-12 years, both boys and girls with their parents and any adult members. The open day will allow you to learn about the rules and try your hand at handball. We will have one of the G.A.A,’s National handball/coaching officers present to facilitate an interesting and enjoyable day.

Running order;- 11am-1pm Introduction to handball and try your hand on the court.

1.30pm-3.pm. Adult coaching workshop.

Golden Age Meeting.

Golden Age group  meeting on Wednesday September25th at 11am. On  Wednesday September 18th  we visited  Beleek Castle at Ballina for a very informative guided  tour. We then went to the National Hotel Ballina for a meal.  The weather was beautiful and everyone had a lovely day .We have a packed programme for the coming months and if you would like to join us at the Community centre Drumsna on every second Wednesday at 11am ,please feel free to do so. Just come along and you will be made very welcome.

Culture Night

The Culture night of music, song , dance session hosted by Drumsna C.C. E. in the Community Centre , Quay  Street, Drumsna  on Friday night September 20th  featuring young and old singers ,musicians ,dancers was a resounding success . Well done to all involved .

Adult set dancing classes in St. Joseph’s Hall Leitrim village on Wednesday September 18th from 8.30 to 9.45pm. Adult and teenagers, beginners and advanced.

Sean Nos Dance classes in St. Mary’s Hall, Carrick-on-Shannon , Thursday September 19th 6.-6.30. Beginner children 6.30 -7.30. Intermediate children. 7.30- 8.30pm Adults.

N.W. Hospice.

Please support Paul Kelly and his band at the Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne on Saturday October 5th 2019 at 9pm. In aid of the North West Hospice. Admission 15 Euro. A jiving competition with great prizes will begin at 10pm. Entry 10 Euro per couple.

Congratulations.

Congratulations are extended to Ciara Gill, Headford daughter of Catherine and Micheal on her wonderful achievement in getting to the all Ireland Aldi /Foroige junior Baking competition at the National Ploughing Champioship during last week. Ciara won the Leitrim title and then went on to win the Connaught title proceeding to the All Ireland where she came joint third out of the line up there. Well done to Ciara  and continued success in your life.

Drumsna Tidy Towns.

Drumsna Tidy Towns Association are holding their A.G.M. on next Tuesday night October 1st in the Community Centre at 7pm. The committee down through the years have done remarkable work and achieved many awards . They are to be commended in their voluntary commitment and dedication , however some of the these dedicated people are retiring and would hope that a newer fresher committee would evolve and go forward to continue the good work. Please come along and support ,listen and give your opinion as to how we can improve our area.
