Golden Age Meeting.

There will be a meeting of the above in the Centre Drumsna on To-day Wednesday April 124that 11am. All members are requested to attend a rehearsal of the play. Our Annual May Madness Ball takes place in The Bush Hotel on Wednesday May 1stat 8.30pm. There will be light refreshments, a short drama entitled “The last will and Testament of Mary Ellen Browne”starring all members of the Golden Age Group, and dancing to the music of the one and only Jimmy Lennon. All welcome.

Co, Leitrim Fleadh, Drumsna 2019

The excitement is building and a great weekend’s entertainment is in store at Leitrim Fleadh which takes place in the village from April 25thto April 28th. Besides competitions there will be numerous other events to entertain everyone. Street entertainment, archive display, pop up sessions, session trail, singing sessions, musical Easter Egg hunt, CD launch, to name but a few! On Friday night a special ‘’Thank you for the music’’ tribute will be held in Mc Loughlins pub in appreciation of the contribution to our musical sessions by Mary and Brian Mostyn. There will be a musical Traditional session in each of the three pubs on Saturday and everyone is invited to join in. Drumsna Boxing Club.

Drumsna Boxing club’s Joe Mc Keon made history last weekend at the schoolboy Connacht Championships in Galway

By winning the Connacht Title. Joe is coached by the vastly experienced father and daughter team of Dermot and Saidbh Greene and will now progress to the All Ireland Championships representing his club with pride. Joe is the eldest son of Edel and Ollie Mc Keon , Kilmore and we wish him every success in the finals.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the following on their recent sad bereavement  ,to Pat Gaffney Carrick-on-Shannon,  Gerry Gaffney and Josephine Rees UK. ,to Kieran and Imelda Gaffney and family  and to Ursula, Iolanda and Keelan Gaffney Drumsna on the loss of their sister and Aunt ,Sister Mary Gaffney of the Marist Sisters, Carrick-on-Shannon and Hythe, Kent , England. The late Sister Mary left her home in Lisdromarea, Kilnagross over 70 years ago to join the Marist Sisters and spent her life in the teaching profession and had enjoyed relatively good health up until her death. She visited her home and Drumsna as late as last September and always had a cheery smile for the neighbours. Sister Mary will be interred in Hythe after her funeral Mass on Thursday April 25th.

May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
