Social Dancing.

There will be social dancing in  Duignan’s Lounge Drumsna on Friday night March 10th with music not to hand  and in Fitzpatrick’s Lounge Mohill  on Sunday night March 12  with music by The Ferryman.

Bingo continues in the Centre Drumsna on Thursday night  March 9th. Last week’s winners included Martin O’ Dowd, Eileen Bourke. Raffle Linda Duignan, Gerry Rynn, Lily Duignan.   Free books for Thursday March 9th Patricia Beirne, Percy Ffrench.

Rebecca Hollidge fund

Rebecca Hollidge is from Annaduff , Co. Leitrim and has suffered chronic ill health since she received the HPV vaccination in 2013. Rebecca has received treatment in Ireland but now needs to travel abroad for further treatment which will hopefully improve her condition.Her family are in need of financial support to pay for her many expenses arising from this ongoing medical care. An Ordinary Man.

An ordinary Man returns to Mohill for a one off performance by Gerry Farrell of John Mc Dwyers funny and moving play. This production has played to sold out Theatres all over Ireland and is currently on it’s fourth National tour. An ordinary man is the life story of a simple sawyer telling of all the joys and sorrows of life with a bit of football and ballroom dancing thrown in  for the craic. Knock Pilgrimmage to New York.

A special pilgrimage to JFK Airport, New York flying directly from Knock Airport will take place from May 8th to May 14th. Itinerary includes Requiem Mass on Sat 13th in Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the re-internment of John Curry the youngest Knock witness which will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Dolan. Golden Age Holiday/Meeting.

There will be a meeting of the Golden Age group in the centre Drumsna on next  Wednesday March 15th at 11am. There will be a practice on Wednesday for our Bealtaine play ‘’Do you come here often?’’ which is set in the Ballroom of Romance. We will be performing it at the May Madness Ball in the Bush Hotel Carrick on Tuesday May 2nd with music by Jambalya so put that date in your  diary for a night of fun and madness. Don’t forget that on Tuesday March 14th we go to the Dock for a Film at 11.30 am.

Art with Noreen.

100 years later,Michael Collins- 1917 Visit.

The celebration of the 100th year Anniversary of Michael Collins’s visit to
Carrick-on-Shannon and surrounds on Friday night last was an unqualified success with the function room in the Bush Hotel packed to capacity. The audience were held spellbound as each speaker unfolded the events and the happenings around it. The meeting was chaired by Gerry Reynolds who welcomed all persuasions of politics, Michael Mc Manus then gave a presentation and short film ‘’Walking in the footsteps of Michael Collins’’. Other speakers included Councillor Finola Armstrong –Mc Guire, Padraig Mc Garty from  Mohill, Senior Lecturer at Institute of technology Tralee, Senator  Michael mc Dowell, Jim Roach, Margot Gearty niece of Kitty Kiernan, Gerry O’ Connell, Deputy Tony Mc Loughlin, Eilish Lowe. The haunting music of Harpist Ava Brogan came at  intervals as well as Padraig Mc Manus and his traditional airs, and the beautiful singing was provided by the Harmon girls . Congratulations to Michael Mc Manus and all involved in a wonderful memorable night.

Drumshanbo Enterprise Centre.

We are currently taking names for an introduction to a container gardening planning course. The classes will commence in March and run on Tuesdays from 10am until 2pm. for 5 weeks. St Patrick’s Day.

The Annual Traditional Mass in Drumsna for deceased members of Drumsna Comhalthas takes place at 9.30am.on St. Patrick’s morning with procession music ,Coupla focail  and singing . The Annual St. Patrick’s night  Drumsna C.C.E. fundraiser takes place in Mc Loughlin’s Lounge Drumsna on Friday March 17th . As it is also the third Friday, the monthly youth session takes place from 8pm until 10  pm. All musicians ,dancers and singers welcome. There will be a raffle with a hamper kindly donated by Maureen Quigley and other prizes. Light refreshments will be served.
