Maggies 101st Birthday.

The villages oldest resident Maggie Reilly celebrated her 101st birthday on Friday night last with a party in Duignan’s Lounge, Maggies family, friends and neighbours came along to wish her a happy birthday and this great lady  enjoyed the fun and attention. Her carers Maura and Bernadette were there together with Maggie’s best friend and neighbour Josephine Creegan who presented Maggie with her birthday cake, Michael John Faughnan representing  the Golden Age group ( of which Maggie is a valued member) presented her with some outside flowering and planting of which she loves to do. No bad back there !.Maggie sang two of her many songs and danced the night away , she even tried out ‘’this new fangled jiving ‘’. The lady herself wishes to thank everyone who came along on the night and during the week where the staff in the community centre also threw a birthday  party, for all the cards gifts and presents and to Duignans and staff and Andy Feery of Jambalya for the music. Looking forward to the 102nd Maggie.
Sliabh an Iarann Players.

The Mohill based Sliabh an Iarann players under the direction of Frank Cadam will once again take to the stage in 2017 with more top class drama. We would like to invite anyone interested in being part of a successful Drama group or anyone interested in learning a craft, how to act ,design sets, lighting sound and everything else that goes into staging a  successful production to join us for the coming year.

Drama helps build your confidence and gives you the chance to meet some great people. Our aim is to provide top class drama combined with good fun for everyone involved. Aughawillan Drama Troupe.

The Aughawillan Drama Troupe are presenting the sinfully hilarious play ‘’ Drinking
Habits’’ by Award winning playwright Tom Smith . This comedy will be performed for your entertainment on the 9,10, 11th, and 12th of February in Aughawillan Hall at 8.30pm sharp.


The death has occurred recently in Bay Shore , New York of Father Peter Mc Crann, son of the late Peter  Mc Crann , Drumnadubber and nephew of Tom Mc Crann, Drumnadubber and Patrick Mc Crann Drumsna. His burial took place on Tuesday January 24th in Long Island new York. Father Peter was a frequent visitor to this area and has celebrated Mass in both Drumsna and Gowel churches while  on holidays here. Sympathy is extended to his relations in Leitrim and Wicklow.

Mass for the Late Fr. Peter will be celebrated on this Friday evening in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drumsna  at 7pm.

May his soul rest in peace . Amen,

 Rebecca Hollidge fund

A church gate collection will be held this weekend in aid of the Rebecca Hollidge Medical fund. Rebecca is from Annaduff , Co. Leitrim and has suffered chronic ill health since she received the HPV vaccination in 2013. Rebecca has received treatment in Ireland but now needs to travel abroad for further treatment which will hopefully improve her condition.Her family are in need of financial support to pay for her many expenses arising from this ongoing medical care. There will be a monster Auction in the Bush Hotel , Carrick-on-Shannon in March, Items and services would be appreciated. Please contact 086 1723178 or 085 1715646.

An Ordinary Man.

An ordinary Man returns to Mohill for a one off performance by Gerry Farrell of John Mc dwyers funny and moving play. This production has played to sold out Theatres all over Ireland and is currently on it’s fourth National tour. An ordinary man is the life story of a simple sawyer telling of all the joys and sorrows of life with a bit of football and ballroom dancing thrown in  for the craic. This unmissable night off pure theatre comes to the Canon Donuhue Hall Mohill on Sunday April 9 at 8.30 pm. Booking is now open at 071 9631253. Tickets 15  Euro.

Tea Day

Poetry Launch.

Heartiest Congratulations are extended to Roisin Keane Nee Gill ,Liscllyroan Drumsna on the completion of her first book of Poetry, entitled Baby Steps, Healing in Rhyme.  Roisin is launching her book in the Bush Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday week February 18th at 7pm. She will also be making a donation to the Special Olympics Club on the night. There will be music and light refreshments and everyone is welcome to come along and wish this talented busy young mother of three good luck on her new venture.  It takes great courage, time and presence of mind to take on something like this and we commend Roisin and wish her well in the future and hope that this is the first of many books. See you there on the night.

Knock Pilgrimmage to New York.

A special pilgrimage to JFK Airport, New York flying directly from Knock Airport will take place from May 8th to May 14th. Itinerary includes Requiem Mass on Sat 13th in Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the re-internment of John Curry the youngest Knock witness which will be celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Dolan. Golden Age Holiday.

Annaduff/ Drumsna/ Jamestown Golden Age Group are travelling by Coach to Kilkenny for this year’s Annual Holiday. We depart from Drumsna Church on Sunday May 21st ( time to be confirmed at a later date ) and return on Friday May 26th. The River Court 4 star Hotel is in the centre of town across from the famous Kilkenny Castle and we hope to make two day trips, one to the Kennedy homestown in Dunganstown and the other to be confirmed.
