Annaduff Family and fun Day.

Annaduff G.A.A. in partnership with Tesco , Carrick-on-Shannon , are delighted to announce that the 2016 family fun day will take place in the G.A.A. grounds on
Sunday August 7th from 2pm until 6pm. For the past two years we have donated half of the proceeds to a chosen Charity. It has been decided that this year’s Charity will once again be Temple Street Children’s Hospital Dublin which is obviously a charity close to all of our hearts. A hardworking committee has organised this event for the past two years and is compromised of the following, Gerry Newton, John

Dowling, Michelle Beirne , Pauric Fitzsimmons, Helen Dowling ,Ronan Mooney, Fionnuala Maxwell, John Thornton, Aine Cox, Declan Shanley , Ciaran Dolan and many others who have assisted with sponsorship, donations ,ticket selling, equipment, preparations and stewarding on the day, they are too numerous to mention but without them the event would not run. Once again we look forward with working with John and Helen and our friends  from the Carrick-n-Shannon Branch of Tesco with whom we have forged a fantastic working relationship.

The day will commence with the dedication of our upgraded training grounds to the late great Paddy Fox, who was such an inspiration to generations of Annaduff people on the pitch. We feel that it is appropriate to associate his name with the training area where footballers of all ages will train and participate in his beloved Gaelic games. We hope that this will be a fitting and permanent tribute to the fond memories that Paddy left us.

We are also pleased to announce that in conjunction with the fun day we will be hosting a photographic exhibition of G.A.A. faces , places and teams in the Community Centre adjoining the grounds. This will encompass all available photographs on display in one location going back to the early days of the club right up to the present time. In addition to the photographs there will be features from every day Parish life as well as a special section on G.A.A. activities and life in Annaduff Parish in 1916.

A committee headed up by Declan Shanley, Donal Fox, and John Dowling will be busy collecting and researching this project for the next few months. If you have any material that you think may be of interest, we would be grateful if you could contact Declan ,Donal or John or indeed any club officer or committee member. All contact details are on the club website  www.annaduff.gaa.ie which is always worth a visit. As usual the day will  primarily be centred around the children and this year we have the usual attractions, i.e. Kid’s football blitz’s, bouncy castles, live music ,dance, games ,small animals, trained eagles, cake sale plus much much more.

We will be announcing the various activities closer to the event date, but it is suffice to say that you will not be disappointed.

In  2014 our committee donated  6,500 Euro  to the North West Hospice and last year we presented Temple Street Children’s Hospital with 7, 500. Euro. Our hope this year is to at least match if not better this figure. It promises to be a super day for young and old and may be of interest for visitors, home or away to plan a weekend or indeed a holiday around the event.
