The Late Sr Bridie Woods
Sr Bridie Woods died peacefully on Aug 25th in Eastpointe, Michigan, USA. Bridie was born in Lisdrumrea, Kilnagross on April 7th 1916, to Frank and Mary Ellen Woods. She attended Lisduff N.S. and the Marist Secondary School in Carrick-on-Shannon. Following her secondary schooling she chose to live her life as a Marist Sister and she entered the convent in England. As a young sister still in training, Bridie spent almost 10 years in France before and during the war. The starvation and cold she endured in wartime left her at deaths door, but she was destined to survive. In 1946 she went to New Brunswick Canada with the first contingent of the Marist Sisters. After 25 years in Canada, she moved to Michegan, USA where she spent the remainder of her life in various communities. She lived a long and happy life of dedicated service with the Marist Sisters.
Sympathy is extended to her sisters Agnes and Emmy, to her nieces, nephews and extended family and to the Marist Sisters. May she rest in peace. Amen.
