Jimmy’s Hall
There was great excitement in the village last Wednesday as a transformed lower half of Main Street became the focus for a scene from Ken Loache’s film Jimmy’s Hall. Locals watched fascinated as Jimmy Gralton (Actor Barry Ward ) was taken by the guards on a rickety lorry over the bridge to Carrick-on-Shannon followed by an adoring crowd of supporters on bicycles crying out for their beloved Idol. The cast and crew were very nice and friendly as the 1930’ s scene unfolded and played to the crowd. We were told that the film will be released next Summer . This film will be of great local interest due to the proximity of Effrinagh and Jimmy Gralton’s story.
