Defibrillator Thanks.
The Annaduff, Drumsna, Jamestown Defibrillator committee wish to thank everyone who gave so generously to the recent Church gate collections. The amount collected was Euro 555. 44 cent. The Defibrillators stationed around the community are all maintained voluntarily and have to be insured. They are a vital part of our community and hopefully you may never need one but it is great to know that we are prepared for any emergency in this area. If you would like to train call 086 2639759.
Bingo
Bingo continues in the Centre Drumsna at 9pm on Thursday night. Last week’s winners included Ellen Gibbons, Martina Mc Garry. Raffle Mary Geheran, Ellen Gibbons, Rosemary Mc Dermott. Free Books Margaret Mc Guire, Patricia O’Reilly.
Drumsna Aqua Club.
Leitrim –Drumsna sub aqua club in Conjunction with the Simon Community are holding their Annual Big Snorkel/Finn/ Swim from Jamestown weir to Drumsna Harbour on Saturday August 31st. The afternoon commences with registration at Drumsna Quay from 12 30pm until 2pm. followed by Blessing by Father John wall P.P. Annaduff, before the snorkel from Jamestown at 2. 30pm. All afternoon there is a fun bar-B-Q at the quay side with by music by John O’ Dowd ,face painting, etc. At 6 pm its on to Duignans Lounge where Shane Cronogue and friends will entertain with their music . Monster Raffle with carts of spot prizes takes place at 9pm. This last Saturday in August is gathering momentum with up to sixty swimmers taking part last year. Dont miss out on this great afternoon’s fun even if you don’t swim come along , there is something for everyone. All proceeds go to Leitrim Sub Aqua and the N.W. Simon Community. 3rd International Anthony Trollope Summer School
Drumsna is gearing up for it’s Third International Anthony Trollope Summer School which commences in the Community Centre Quay Street, Drumsna on Friday September 6th with registration from 6pm to 6.45pm. and grand opening ceremony at 7pm by the Cathaoirleach of Leitrim Co. Council, Councillor Sean Mc Dermott followed by reception with light refreshments and everyone is welcome to join in the celebrations. This year we are joining up with ‘’The Gathering’’ and the ‘’Carrrick 400’’ Festivities and all of our lectures take place in the Bush Hotel on Saturday September 7th. The day starts with registration at 9.00am to 9.45am. Chairperson for the day is Michael Williamson JP,DL, of the UK Trollope Society , At 10am until 11am we have our First speaker Mary Kenny, Author, Journalist, Broadcaster, Mary will explore the way Trollope brought some of the journalistic attitudes to writing and the way he shocked literary folks by describing it as ‘’ a craft which to learn by doing rather than a lofty inspirational art.’’
Tea /Coffee break 11am until 11,30am.
Session 2. has speaker Haruno Kayama Watanabe Academic and writer from Tokyo, who will explore Trollope’s complex view of Ireland and his growing doubts about the Union by examining his rather neglected Novel ‘’An eye for an eye’’.
Lunch in the Bush hotel from 12.30 until 200pm.
Session 3 from 2.15.until 3.15 has speaker Yvonne Siddle, Senior Lecturer and writer from the U.K. discussing and exploring the chosen Novel for this year i.e. An eye for an eye, how Trollope employs ,adapts and subverts the Union between Britain and Ireland.
There will then be a general Questions and answers discussion.
On Saturday night there will be a special Trollope themed Banquet in the Bush Hotel with After Dinner Speaker Mr Howard Gregg .
There is also a presentation of a specially commissioned painting of Anthony Trollope by local Artist Sinead Guckian Drumsna for The Bush hotel’s Trollope Room to Mr Joe Dolan of the Bush Hotel and Leitrim Tourism.
On Sunday morning at 11am for the more hardier of the group there will be a walk out to Ballycloran commencing at the Community Centre Quay Street on to the Beautiful Trollope Trail.

Sympathy.
Sympathy is extended to Mary Noone and Family Corbally on the unexpected death of Mary’s husband John Joe after a short illness. A quiet unassuming man John Joe went about his farming business each day and will be sadly missed by Mary, his son John and daughters Eithne and Virginia his many relatives, neighbours and friends. The late John Joe was interred in Jamestown Cemetary after his funeral Mass on Saturday last.
Sympathy is also extended to Andrew Cullen the Fisheries office Drumsna , his sisters and brothers on the death of their mother Mrs Tessie Cullen also to Tessie’s brother Eddie Mc Nabola, Lisnagea.to her grand- children, nephews nieces, relatives and friends.The late Mrs Cullen was interred after her funeral Mass on Friday.
May their souls rest in peace.
The Rose of Tralee.
Drumsna is honouring Edwina on Saturday next August 31st at 1.30pm on the village Green where our P.P. Father John Wall will bless a special Rose tree which Edwina will then plant for posterity. A plaque to mark the spot will also be installed. Fred Gill together with his Pony Mollie will transport Edwina around the village and on to the Swim /Snorkel at the Quay side. Everyone is welcome to come along and give our Rose the welcome back that she deserves.
Knock Pilgrimage
The Annual Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine takes place on Sunday Week September 1st. Ceremonies begin at 2.30pm with anointing of the sick. Mass will be celebrated at 3pm. A bus will leave Dromod at 10am, Notleys’ Top’O the hill at 10. 10am and Drumsna at 10 20am. Cost 16 euro.
