Book Launch.
Des Guckian ,Annaduff, Dromod will be launching his latest book in Mc Loughlin’s Lounge Effrinagh on Friday night next November 9th at 8pm. The Title of the book is The cruel fate of Jack Burchill. Jack was a young man from Drumshanbo who in august 1829 was wrongly condemned to death for the murder of Thomas Cox, Manager of Arigna Ironworks. The hanging was in Roscommon gaol which stood beside the present Courthouse. The rope which hanged him was rescued by John Morrison of Gowel. It quickly became a relic which since 1829 has cured thousands of people. People took it that this in itself was proof enough that Jack was an innocent victim. Another independent proof has been unearthed by Des Guckian which proves beyond doubt that Jack was framed and indeed a completely innocent young man. The launch will bring closure to this disturbing wrong and due tribute will be paid to the decency and loyalty of the Morrison Family who in memory of Jack have valued the rope Relic and used it to provide a cure for so many. In this way a cruel wrong has been turned into a source of great healing.
The Launch will be in conjunction with a first class variety entertainment. All who are interested are invited to attend.
