Tidy Towns Report.( cont., )
Congratulations on drafting your first litter management plan. This will help focus your efforts and remember to record details that will help measure your success in implementing this. Bins were clean and serviced, little litter was noted and your bring banks were excellent. The provision of a bucket to collect dog poo was a simple and effective idea.
Drumsna looked very tidy and you have worked hard in this area. You shuld look at a long action regarding the overhead wires crossing the green area. Two metal poles had had signs removed on the Dublin Road- can the poles be removed also? Likewise two other posts were noted on Crow Hill. You mention your efforts on fly posting. One such sign was noted on the lamp post at the green.
Your use of rain water to water plants is commendable. It was valso great to read that you use your own home made compost on your flower beds. The book swap area will also help gain points within this category.
Houses on Quay Street and Main Street looked very well and some were beautiful period buildings with fan lights, carriageways and traditional railings in situ. Other more modern ones also presented very well, the white terrace house with yellow window frames and hanging baskets looked lovely.
The Meadows was a very nice Estate with lovely homes but the entrance road here was in a very poor state. The Grange estate also looked well- this road was not in as b ad a state as the Meadows. There was a nice communal area in the Grange and the trees there would benefit from some mulching. You state that the Council is to take over theses Estates which should make a great difference to these areas.
Roads are nicely managed and verges are cut nicely. There were no road markings at the junction on Main Street which left this area somewhat bereft. Approach roads all looked very well. It was a delight for your adjudicator to spend some time exploring Drumsna. You have a lovely Community with many great facilities that are tended and cared for and you have worked to enhance nearly every area available to you. You have made excellent efforts in this competition.

The Statue was Blessed at Fatima to be the Pilgrim Peace Statue. She has travelled the world many times visiting over 100 countries, bringing the message of peace and hope. Many Miracles and graces have been reported wherever the Statue travels including the Shedding of tears.

Road Race /Walk.
Congratulations to the Annaduff National school Parents Association on their wonderful organisation of the fun run on last Sunday. Firstly we were entertained by Edwina Guckian and her troupe of merry Sean Nos Dancers as people registered .Hundreds of people gathered to take part, with the serious 10K runners starting ahead of the main crowd Then in glorious sunshine the rest of us mammies, daddies, grannies ,granddads aunties uncles cousins, neighbours and lots of buggies all took off at a leisurely ramble around the roads of Antfield, Corduff and Finnalaughta and a short trot along the main Dublin Road and back to the school where the Annaduff I.C.A. ladies had a wonderful spread of goodies laid on. We were also well looked after by the Gardai and the water carriers along the way. A lovely way to spend a Sunday walking and chatting to friends and neighbours.
