2011 Tidy Towns results.

Over the next few weeks it is hoped to show some of the results from the 2011 report. The built environment; There are some very interesting buildings in the village. The houses which one meets when entering the Main Street across the bridge –between the river walkway and the houses which one meets on Quay street are all very well presented. The red door/detailing and the external red seating in front of the lovely stone houses sets these house off to full advantage. The houses on the other side of the street also look very well. An ivy covered green house was charming as was the cream-coloured house adjacent, even the little alleyways between the houses was well presented. Magnificent railings and very unusual limestone pillars, together with terrific shrub planting set off the house close to the business centre with it’s red door and climbing roses peeping through the railings. The wonderful fanlight at this house was also admired. The Irish name on MacLochlainn’s is recommended and the bilingual Memorial was also noted. Duignan’s premises was very well presented .The magnificent stone gates beside the business building are a wonderful aspect of your built heritage. Quay Street is a very broad thoroughfare. Most of the buildings look well. We particularly admired the house with the railings and the gate pillars of the same genre as the pillars on Main Street.  This house has a very beautiful fanlight. It’s railings and balcony ironmongery looked very well also. (more next week. )
