Leitrim Branch Foster Care .
The Leitrim Branch of Irish foster Care in association with the support of the HSE` West are hosting the 20011 National Conference. This will be held on the weekend of Nov 4th ,5th and 6th. In The Landmark Hotel Carrick-on-Shannon. The launch of the Conference will be on Tues July 5th at 6pm in The Landmark. We expect local media foster carers social workers and child care workers especially from Leitrim, Sligo North Roscommon and West Cavan. 50 Years Ago.
This Thursday June 30th will mark the fiftieth anniversary of annaduff’s first ever win in the U 14 Co. Leitrim championship final. ( Town and rural ) They played the much larger Kiltoghert parish which included carrick, Leitrim, Jamestown and kilnagross. This final was played in Mohill, Carrick having won all of the recent U 14 Competitions were expected to win easily. Fr Sean Manning who had trained some of the famous St. Mel’s College teams, /co. Longford Seniors and Co. Leitrim Seniors had prepared his team with thought and care. He was a master tactician- the best ever. Annaduff won 3-3 to 1-6. they started at a blistering pace and overwhelmed their famous rivals in the first half. In the second halfAnnaduff had to withstand a siege but managed to emerge well no matter what was thrown at them. It was a case of all hands to the pumps and they covered themselves in glory. The Annaduff team was Michael Mc Garry Dromod beg. The 1961 victory was the1st title of any kind that annaduff had won since the junior title of 1941.The 1961 U 14 title set the standard for annadyff under Fr Manning and later Paddy Fox N.T. to win many more underage titles. Full credit to to all the players and Fr Sean himself. Unfortunately four of the team have died and three years after the 1961 success Fr Seanwas to rfepeat the miracle with a second success. Parish / G.A.A. Lotto
There was no winner of the G.A.A./ Parish lotto held in Cox’s Steak House on Sunday night last . The numbers drawn were 2 ; 9 ; 11 ; 13.The winner of the 50 Euro was Vincent Reynolds, the winners of the lucky dip were as follows Donal Fox , martin Harkin ,Johnny conroy , Declan shanley Cornagillagh. The next draw is in Taylors Drumsna with a jackpot of 2,500 Euro.
