Golden Age News

There will be a Golden Age meeting in the Community Centre Drumsna on Tues

Day March 8th at 11am. There will be a practice for the Drumshanbo outing and also the finalisation of our holiday plans for 2011. The Bealtaine ‘’May Madness ‘’ Ball takes polace in The Bush hotel Carrick on Tue. May 10th and there will be more details about that later .

Sean Nos ar an tSionann.

Don’t forget to vote for Sean Nos ar an tSionann on RTE1 on Sunday March 13th . The group will be performing on the All Ireland talent show representing The West.

The show goes on air at 6.30 and the leader,  Drumsna girl Edwina Guckian assures me that there is a spectacular treat in store for viewers, however if they are to get through to the next round they need all the votes they can get so please be aware that it is up to the public to help get them through and also to be able to make their promised donation of 10,000 Euro to the children’s Hospital ,Crumlin.

Church Gate Collection.

The church Gate Collectionfor the Irish Pilgrimage trust for special children to Lourdes takes place at Masses locally on this Sat and Sun 5th /6th March..Please give generously to this very worthy cause.

I.C.A. Cake /Bric-a-Brac Sale

Annaduff I.C.A. are holding a Cake/Bric-a-brac Sale on Sunday March 20th after 11 am Mass in st. Mary’s Annaduff.This year the proceeds will go to the Simon Community and St Vincent de Paul.

World Day of Prayer Service.

This year’s World Day of Prayer Service takes place in The Sacred Heart Church ,Jamestown on Friday next March 4th at 8pm. The leader is Sr. Norah Burke . Everyone is welcome and light refreshments will be served afterwards .

Bingo.

Bingo continues on Thursday night commencing at 8pm. Last weeks winners included Lily Duignan , Marie Brown ,Raffle Majella Reynolds, Patricia O Reilly , Ellen Gibbons. Winners of the free books Margaret Butler , Patricia O ‘ Reilly . Thanks is extended to all of our patrons for their support of which the money goes to pay off the debt on the Community Centre .

Fatima Pilgrimage.

The carrick-on-Shannon group Pilgrimage to Fatima takes place August 9th to the 15th 2011. including Lisbon ,Santarem, Nazare, Avila, Madrid, and Toledo. Spiritual Director Father Turlough Baxter .Cost per person is 895 Euro including tax and insurance. Coach transfers to and from Carrick. Booking forms from Rita Mc Weeney at 962150. Early booking is advisable.
