There will be Mass in Drumsna on Friday evening at 7pm followed by Exposition of The Blessed Sacrament Holy hour Duty Bernie Gill ; Kathleen Reynolds.

Defibrillator training .

There will be no Defibrillator re validation or training on next Friday night  August 27th Training etc resumes on the last Friday of September.

Leitrim Sub aqua club Snorkel

The 3rd Annual Jamestown to Drumsna Snorkel and Fin Swim takes place on Saturday next August 28th. Assemble at the Quay in Drumsna at 2pm and on to Jamestown with snorkel commencing at 2.30pm. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun just bring a wet suit and fins . There will be a Barbeque at Drumsna quayside afterwards and again everyone is welcome .At 5pm there will be live music with Chris Cronin , raffles with plenty of prizes and great atmosphere so come along and support your local sub aqua club .

Congratulations and well done to all our local leaving cert students who must be breathing sighs of relief as their hard work paid off. We wish them well in their chosen paths through life.

Back to school

As one set of students prepare to leave secondary school for College another set are just starting their second level education and we wish them well also as they meet new teachers and friends Then there are the new little people starting out on the first leg of their educational journey without mammy and daddy beside them as they head off next week to National school for their very first day at school. Good luck to them all.

Bee Keeping course

There will be a Bee Keeping course  in the Teagasc Centre ,Mohill  over the Winter months .Anyone wishing to avail of this age old skill should book their place as soon as possible at 086 321

Well done to the Annaduff Senior football team who beat Ballinamore in Cloone on Saturday evening last . They meet St. Mary’s Kiltoghert in the next round.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anthony Trollope Summer School.

The first Anthony Trollope International Summer School Commences in The Community Centre Drumsna on Friday Evening August 27th with registration and opening ceremony by the Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council, Councillor Frank Dolan. There will be a wine reception and light refreshments .

Saturday will see Lectures with Mr. Gerard McAtasney ; Dr. Jennifer Kelly ; Dr. Yvonne Siddle ,M/s Priscilla Hungerford. until 3pm. Questions and answers 3pm to 4pm.

At 4pm we join Gerry Gilroy and Leitrim sub Aqua club at the quay side .

Saturday night is the banquet at The Bush Hotel Carrick at 8pm sharp where the after Dinner speaker is renowned Author writer and broadcaster Mary Kenny .Tickets are 30 Euro each and can be had from Ella Gannon at 0861516858 or Colleen Guckian at 087 7670788 as soon as possible .On Sunday there is the Trollope Trail walk at 2pm and plaque ceremony at Ballycloran  then back to Drumsna where delegates will be entertained Drumsna style  until approx 5 30pm.  The Premiere of the Locally made film ‘’ Ballycloran ‘’will take place at 7pm. You can meet the stars on the red carpet Hollywood style where they will be interviewed by Helen Rutter and Donal Fox from Annaduff. The film will then commence at 7.30 pm at 10 Euro per ticket with accompanied children 5 Euro. Tickets for the cinema can be got from Ella Gannon or Colleen Guckian or you can get them at the door but be sure and come along in time as the film is only on for one night and spaces are limited.

On Monday Moon River moors at Drumsna Harbour at 10am. You can make this unique trip which also includes   a guided walking tour of Carrick-on-Shannon for 15 Euro. We then bid adieu to delegates until next year .

Parish/G.A.A. Lotto.

There was no winner of the G.A.A. /Parish Lotto held in the Brandywell Dromod on Sunday night last.The numbers drawn were 16 ; 19 ; 22 ; 24. The winner of the 50 Euro was Peter Cox . The winners of the 25 Euro prizes are as follows ; Sean Bourke ; John Mc Hugh ; Maggie Cox ; Josie Cox . The next draw is in Tommy and Teasie Mc Loughlins Drumsna with a jackpot of 1,700 Euro

Heart Children (Ireland ).

Thanks is extended to everyone who supported the coffee morning and raffle for heart children’s fund raiser day in the home of Bernie and Niall Daniels  Belmont Heights Drumsna on Sunday August 15th. People came from all over to attend,  thanks also to those who sent donations .To all those who contributed cakes etc ,Ella . Majella , Imelda , to Carole Ruxton ,Vivienne Daniels and Louise Gaffney who gave of their time. To all the generous sponsors , including Aura leisure ;Beirnes Quality Meats ; Coffee’s Cake shop; Cox’s chemist ; Fabulous Nails ; Glancy Supervalue ; Kelly’s Centra ; The Oarsman ; The Reading Room ; Peter Keogh & sons Potatoes Dublin ; Musgrove Sports and Social Club; Mary Caslin, Handknits ; Hair by Ronan Longford  ;Quidsworth ,To the local Businesses , Rev., Fr John Wall P.P.and  the local Notes in the Leitrim Observer  for their help in promoting the event, to Drumsna garden Centre for the flowers ,to The Community Centre for the equipment. The grand total of 1,902 Euro 78 Cent was collected .This money helps to provide vital sevices to Our Lady’s Hospital  for sick children, Crumlin  who are affected by congenital heart disease. At the moment 100 children are awaiting surgery . It is these children who will benefit from your generosity .
