Robert Strawbridge .
There is a monument in front of the old Wesleyn graveyard in Drumsna erected some years ago by the Wesley Historical Society ( Ireland ).The pillar is a replica of the gravestone of Strawbridge in Maryland U.S.A. where he commenced his life of serious preaching .Robert Strawbridge was born at Gortconlon Drumsna of a lone protestant family in a predominantly Catholic area. He found that at that time the Catholic Community were unresponsive to his preaching and he traveled on to Co. Sligo where he met his wife Elizabeth, they left Ireland for America and settled in Maryland where Robert Strawbridge became a powerful preacher. This year the Strawbridge Society in America are visiting Ireland and are very excited to be coming to the place of his birth. They will be here on the morning of Friday August 6th approximately 10. 30am to greet the people of Drumsna, Gortconlan and surrounding areas. It would be appreciated if there could be as many as possible there .
